3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 1 Cor. 15:1-4

Why we are coming together - The Lord’s supper

Headcovering 1 cor. 11:1-16

By: Dov Avnon

23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. 1 cor. 11

Paul received the message about the Lords supper directly from the Lord as a part of the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery for this dispensation of Grace . The message that he originally delivered to us  has been changed over the years. Romans catholic, Protestants, evangelical all have their own interpretation for it. Some so called grace believers even reject it.

For some it is a ritual, sacrament for other it is moment of remembrance and we can go own and own. When you teach it and practice it every time when the church is coming together, some will use Paul words “For we walk by faith, not by sight”  to concordict the words of the same apostel in his first letter 1 cor. 11:23-26).

The most important question will be what did Paul delivered to us as it is written in his letters to the Church Romans – Philemon.

For Christ sent me not to baptize…. 1 cor 1:17

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery…. 1 cor 2:7

….as I teach everywhere in every church…. 1 cor 4:17

….for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel… 1 cor 4:15

Those verses and many others showing us that we should follow Paul when it comes to our faith as he followed Christ and not what religion made from it.

During the years (1980-2010) that I teach the gospel of grace as I learned from C.R. Stam books or listen to the preaching of man of God like R. Jordan Thomas Brushe and others  learned that the Lord’s supper is a moment of remembrance.

What I did not know during that time that Lords supper and head covering are both ordinances that Christ gave to us members of the body of Christ when we are coming together in the Church.

Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ

…and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you….

I noticed during the years that also those who understand that Paul received the dispensation of Grace are still divided on fundamental issues like the Lord’s supper.

We have today much teaching around us that reject that the Lord’s supper is part of the dispensation of Grace of God. The followers of  E.W. Bullinger also called acts 28 or those Mid. Acts people who teach that Lords supper was part of Paul Jewish ministry trying to convince other (with much success) that Paul letters to the Corinthian is not fully part of the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery.

This cause that believers do not really understand the purpose of the Lord’s supper in this dispensation of Grace and get easily carry after other winds of doctrines which are not according to what Christ gave to Paul for us today.

The purpose of this study is to help other to know from the scriptures and not from any church constitution that the Lord’s supper like head covering are important ordinances that Christ gave to Paul for this dispensation of Grace.

For years when I was speaking  about the Lord’s supper (we use to do it once a month but now once a week) I had in mind:

The communion of the Lord's supper as revealed through the Apostle Paul in I Corinthians 11:23-26 is for members of the Body of Christ to observe "until He comes." Because this how we translated it from English.

Now I know that the Lord's supper is ordinance for the body of Christ and that Paul teaching about it started  in : 1  Corinthians chapter 10

15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. 16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

Following the apostle Paul in his teaching about the Lords supper or woman head covering will not be that easy. People do not like those ordinances. The history is full of church denominations that build all kind of doctrines about those two ordinances. In most cases they did not understand the dispensation of Grace which was given to Paul and yet if we want to be faithful followers of Christ we should follow Paul also in this matter 1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 1 cor. 11

when Paul was writing that we should follow him like he follow Christ he was talking about  those ordinances. It was not just a general statement.

Lord’s supper and us

Is it so important to speak about the Lord’s supper ?  Why should we make a point of it ?

Yes it is !  because the Lord’s supper as Paul teach the members of the body of Christ is an important ordinance that Christ gave to us when we coming together in the church.. It is not an ordinance from the law of Moses but from the dispensation of Grace of God.

Some say that the Lords supper is a Jewish tradition part of Paul Jewish ministry. Other Bible teachers will try to show you that Paul letters to the Corinthians belong to what they call acts period but if we only read what Paul is writing us. We will get a clear understanding on the subject.

Most important is, if you will understand the position of the Lords supper in God’s plan for this dispensation of grace you will be free from being: …. children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Ephesians chapter 4:14

Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. 1 cor. 11:1-2

From this verse we understand that members of the body of Christ should follow Paul in his teaching about the Lords supper (read 1 cor. chapter 11).

Is Lords supper another religious sacrament or is it a moment of remembrance ? And if we have to remember something lets listen to Paul our apostle and see what he has to say to us about it..

Come together in the church

Did you ever ask the question what is the main purpose when you come together in the church? I do not mean for singing, fellowship or the preaching.

I am writing “ come together in the church ”  because in the world it has been change to “ Going to  Church” .  The building became the  place for worshiping.  The service is starting and finishing at certain time and probably you will be invited  to take part in the offering.

So you see it is important to ask our self “what is the main purpose when you come together in the church ?

1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence. COLOSSIANS Chapter 1

5:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.5:32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

The Church is the body of Christ or all those that are baptized in to one body.  13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 1 cor. 12:13

But the Church is also the name that Paul using when he speak about those groups of people who were baptized in to one body.

16:16 Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you. Romans 16:16.

1 CORINTHIANS 16:1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.

1 CORINTHIANS 16:19 The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house

2 CORINTHIANS 8:1 Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;

It is also clear from the word of God that Paul was working very hard that those churches will be one and follow his teaching. We know that already in his days many left him.

17 For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

8:16 But thanks [be] to God, which put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you.  8:17 For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more forward, of his own accord he went unto you. 8:18 And we have sent with him the brother, whose praise [is] in the gospel throughout all the churches; 8:19 And not [that] only, but who was also chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and [declaration of] your ready mind:

From those verses and others we know that it was most important that those churches will keep follow Paul teaching. That they will keep recognizing his apostleship and not mixing the Gospel of Grace that he was teaching with the gospel that was preached by the apostles from Jerusalem.

But how those churches will stay strong in grace. Where are they going to be reminded about the fundamental truth that Paul was preaching ? the answer is:

1 CORINTHIANS 11:18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.

Now we understand why we need first to be clear about Paul message and secondly to understand “Why are we coming together.”

Let’s not forget what Paul is teaching us:

ROMANS 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is  your reasonable service.

Paul is telling us that SERVICE under the dispensation of Grace has nothing to do with schedule. It has to do with living the spiritual life as saved believers. So it is not how many time you attend the so called “church service”  that make you spiritual person but if you as a believer learned to:

present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is  your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Rom. 12:2

HEBREWS 9:1 Then verily the first [covenant] had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.

If we just remember  that the  first covenant  had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. We will understand that many believers during the centuries organized them self in a way that  they  were copying the worldly sanctuary that God gave to Moses for Israel.

If we will just look around us, we will find that the so called ”church services”  in many church buildings are quite similar. Singing in different ways, announcement, witnessing and then the preaching. Once a month depends on the denomination there will be “Lords supper”

So I think it is not strange when we ask our self: what is the main purpose when you  come together in the church ?

Eat the Lord's supper

20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper. 1 Corinthians chapter 11

Paul  letters to the Corinthians giving us, members of the body of Christ, the answer for what purpose we are coming together.

Paul was teaching the churches  the “ Lord’s supper” as part of the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery.  When members of Christ body eating the Lord’s supper they are not following Jewish tradition or kingdom preaching. They are simple following Paul as he follow Christ according to the revelation of the mystery.

The truth about the the Lord's supper has been change during  the last 2000 years. It will not be so easy for us today  to understand this truth unless we simple go back to God’s word and follow Paul as he follows Christ in this matter.

Satan main attack on the truth about the Lord’s supper is probably through the Romans catholic theology but as we know the so called Protestant or reformation theology is not better on this subject.  Lord’s supper, water Baptism, church confession  all is mixing . So it is much better to listen to Paul and what he has to say, rather trying to understand the reasoning behind tradition of man.

The Lord’s supper is for many just a remembrance. The question is what should we remember and what are the things that we forget so easily.

Also those who eat the Lord’s supper for remembrance became a part of a tradition of man. It may written in your Church constitution that once a month the church will have Lord’s supper but the question is does Paul teach it in that way.

Then we have the dispensational approach of the Bible. The rightly dividing the word of truth. The distinctive ministry of Paul. The meaning of those terms is to help us following Paul in his teaching as he followed Christ and yet when we come to the subject about  to eat the Lord's supper  we will find that even grace believers are divided about this important  truth.

Rightly dividing the word of truth in this matter is to understand that Paul was teaching the churches  about the “Lord’s supper”  as part of the new revelation.  The Lord’s supper that Paul is teaching is not because Christ was teaching it when he was on earth. Paul did not learn it from the 12 apostles. The ordinance of “Lord’s supper” is very part of the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery.

Eating and bread

The first time that we read about eating for memory is in Exodus chapter 12

19 Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land. 24 And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever. 25 And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the LORD will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service. 26 And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? 27 That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD'S passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.

This service was given to the nation of Israel as part of the law of Moses. The remembrance was:

17 And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.

The next time that we read about eating for memory is in Matthew chapter 26

26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. 27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

So while they were eating – remembering what Moses told them to do as a children of Israel.  Jesus , God in the flash, introduced something new for Israel. It was in the light of the new testament and the kingdom on earth.

It is important to understand that the meal  “And as they were eating” was part of the feast of the Passover that Moses gave them.

Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

17 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?

breaking of bread &  eat the Passover

Does breaking of bread &  eat the Passover are the same?  No ! As fare that we know from the Word of God Christ did not come to change the law of Moses.

14:22 And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake [it], and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body. 14:23 And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave [it] to them: and they all drank of it. 14:24 And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.  14:25 Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God. 14:26 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. Mark 14

Eating the Passover was part of the law of Moses. It is only when we come to Paul and the revelation of the mystery that we  know much more about this ordinances but for members of the body of Christ.

 What is "breaking of bread"

There are Bible teachers that thought that “breaking bread” “eating the Passover” and “Lord supper are the same.  If we want to understand this term we should read it in the context.  We must also keep in mind that the “Lord’s  supper” as Paul teaching the church is part of the revelation of the mystery that Christ gave first to him. (1 kor. 10-11)

ACTS 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.  ACTS 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

Please keep in mind that most people are not rightly dividing the word of truth and they are reading Paul with the “Lord’s supper” into it or thinking that it is about eating the “Passover meal”

"Breaking of bread”  is also in connection with common meal (Mk. 6: 41; Acts 27: 35).

41 And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all. 35 And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.

So when we read  Acts 2:42-46 we should understand that it is about the messianic church of Pentecost that eating was part of their fellowship. It is not written that Christ pass to them that whenever they came together they had  to remember  what He  told them during the last meal.

When Paul was coming to Troas he already teach the churches what Christ reveled him about the ordinance of Lord supper .  When we read  the following verse . We learn about a meal and eating.

ACTS 20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. 20:10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing [him] said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him. 20:11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.

ministers of the new testament

3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 2_CORINTHIANS Chapter 3

Are we ministers of the new testament?

The answer is very simple, YES! Why because Paul through the authority of Christ write this to the CHURCH, members of the body of Christ.

The letter to the Corinthians is part of the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery. All the things that Paul was teaching the Corinthians, he teaches also the other churches. 17 For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church. 1 cor. 4:17

Why is Paul using especially in his letters to the ROMANS, CORINTIANS, GALATION, Expressions from the so called Old Testament?

4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Romans chapter 15

So the answer is simple. Paul is using those expressions NOT because that at that time he had special Jewish ministry. Not because he went first to the Jewish synagogue. But  for our learning.

Those who mention often that we should rightly divided the word of truth and talking about Paul distinctive ministry. Forget some time even to listen to Paul him self when he write to the Churches.

Yes if we understand why Christ saved Paul and for which purpose, we will understand that members of the body of Christ under the dispensation of Grace are also ministers of the New Testament.

Before we going to compare between the new testament as Paul was preaching and this of what the Prophet Jeremiah was writing. It is important to know that what Paul writes in his letters is part of a new gospel / revelation that he received from the Lord. There is nothing in his letters that was written especially for Jewish people or to the nation of Israel and not to the member of Christ body.

4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Romans chapter 15

I mention the above verse because I came to the understanding, that when ever Paul use verses from the Old Testament it is not because he had special ministry for the Jews or that he write specially to them because he first went to the synagogue. Paul use verses from the WORD OF GOD for our learning.

So the first question is, do we accept that what Paul is writing is part of a new Gospel that Christ gave him? Or are we going to question his authority every time when he mentions something from the Old Testament for our learning.

I will make a new covenant

Let examine first what Jeremiah the Prophet say to the nation of Israel. Jeremiah chapter 31

31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

So we learn clearly with whom God going to make this covenant  with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

From This verse we understand that it is different covenant not the same as it was in the days of Moses

33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD,

After those days, - We know now that the days of the first covenant were over when Christ was on the cross. We Know that at the day of Pentecost God was fulfilling to Israel the prophesy of Joel.   But al that was temporary stop with the coming of the dispensation of Gods grace.

3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; 4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? Hebrew 2

The writer to the Hebrews under the gospel to the circumcision (Hebrew – revelation) show us that what already began will continue in the future after the dispensation of Grace will come to the end.

I will put my law in their inward parts

1- I will put my law in their inward parts,

2- and write it in their hearts;

3- and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

4- And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying,

5 -Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD:

6 -for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

The main purpose of that testament with Israel in the future is like he says:

1- I will put my law in their inward parts,

2- and write it in their hearts;

This mean that the first covenant was just a letter – through the law there is the knowledge of sin and not more. Another important point is that the new covenant with Israel is based on the blood of Christ and not the blood of animals.

So we must understand that God intend in the future to continue his covenant with Israel on a different base that it was with MOSES.

11:18 And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence.

11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: 11:20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. 11:21 But [as for them] whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD. EZEKIEL Chapter 11

Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament;

Let’s go now back to what Paul is writing to members of the body of Christ as part of the revelation of the mystery. His letter to the Corinthians is a long letter. This letter addressed to members of the body of Christ in all times.

3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

made us -  US -  members of the Body of Christ. The purpose to which Christ saved Paul was:

15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake. Act 9:15-16

Gentiles = Nations

Children of Israel – in Paul’s days till the distraction of the temple they could proven that they were from the nation ISRAEL from which tribe. Today there are only NATIONS no one can really say to which tribe he belongs.

There is now New Testament with a new group of believers – the body of Christ. This testament is of the spirit it called also the ministration of righteousness. We find in Paul letters many verses that dealing with the work of the indwelling spirit in the believers.

So again we see how things were written aforetime were written for our learning.

We speak only on the same principle but not the same group of People.

What Gods is doing today is Giving His spirit to members of Christ body on the basic of GRACE and FAITH. You need Gods spirit not only to be saved. Remember Paul writes to the Corinthians to believers that need to know and learn about the working of Gods spirit in their live in order to know how to overcome sin.

for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

The letter is the LAW of Moses the spirit is the new testament according to the revelation of the mystery. (See Romans chapter 8)

BUT I am from the nations, GENTILS. What should I do with the LAW of MOSES

Shame on those who put their dispensational theories before the authority of God word.

Of course this is the point. When Paul came to those Churches where Gentiles and Jews from the synagogue (who believed the gospel.) where together. He presents them truth for LEARNING. things were written aforetime were written for our learning.

Dear Brother do you believe and teach the ministration of the spirit according to the revelation of the mystery? If your answer is YES then you are also

Paul & the Lord supper

I gave long background for  the subject so I can tell you now that  the Lord’s supper as we read in Paul letter to the Corinthian, is part of the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery.

Those who teach that what Paul was teaching the Corinthians was part of a Jewish ministry have hard time to accept what Christ told him for the church. So I do hope  that after reading this study you will be much more confidence that we too should follow Paul in this ordinance.

Another important point that we should note before we go further :

8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. Colossians chapter 2

1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Colossians chapter 3

7 For we walk by faith, not by sight: 2 Corinthians chapter 5

There are those who do understand the dispensation of Grace that was given to Paul and yet using those verses to show the opposite. It is strange when people do it. How can you use the words of the same apostle and the same revelation to contradict what he teach the church of the body of Christ?

We do not take part in the Lord’s supper because of the feeling but because we understand that this is what the Lord Jesus Christ say to the Church.

communion of the body of Christ

14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? 17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. 1 Corinthians chapter 10

The question is “what is this Lord’s supper “ about.

Is it just a one monthly ceremony?. Some doing this ceremony every 3 month other once in a year confusing it with the Passover meal.

From reading the above verses we learn that whenever you do it, it is more than just  ceremony.  It is communion. Not a Rome catholic communion but a bible one according to the dispensation of Grace. It is to have something common with what you are doing.

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ?

The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

Paul  is teaching here more than just a sermon that we should observe each month or whenever it might say in our denomination constitutions. You see this cup of blessing or bread which we break, has to do with idolatry among believers. 14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry

Let see the context of the chapter and try to understand the message that Paul has to say to members of the body of Christ.

It is about remembering but the qwestion is, remmber what ?

1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 1 Corinthians chapter 10

Moreover, brethren -  Those brethren are Jews and Gentiles who are baptized in to one body. It is sad to see how able Grace teachers go so far to say that he is speaking to a Jewish believers or  talking to a different body. Paul is very clear here. He is writing to members of the body of Christ

1 CORINTHIANS 12:2 Ye know that ye were gentiles,…

Yes the body of Christ made from Jews who their fathers were with Moses under the cloud and Gentiles who ” carried away unto these dumb idols”

things were our examples

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4

for our learning - that we - have hope

6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 1 Corinthians chapter 10

our examples  - we should

To whom does Paul speaking here? It might be sound strange question but if we do not understand that he talking to us members of the body of Christ, we might not listen.

When Paul is using scriptures from the old testament it is examples - for our learning. You see the body of Christ is not different when it is coming to Idolaters - fornication - tempt Christ - murmur ye

1 CORINTHIANS 5:1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. 1 CORINTHIANS 12:2 Ye know that ye were gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. 1 CORINTHIANS 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

So now after we know that Paul is talking to us. We should get closer and listen to what he has to say. Paul  take Israel here as a SAMPLE for the members of the body of Christ. What is so wrong to take sample from what happen then, while we know that the working of the flash are the same under the law of Moses or the dispensation of GRACE of God.

About Israel he say -

5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 1 Corinthians chapter 10

To the body of Christ he say:

3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,

4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. 1 Corinthians chapter 5

11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.  1 Corinthians chapter 5

Christ through Paul telling us to look to Israel in this matter of fornication or idolatry and to learn from that situation. Under the dispensation of Grace God is dealing differently with those who fall in to that sin.

5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 1 Corinthians chapter 3

30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 1 Corinthians chapter 1

So once again we can see that the message in 1 Corinthians chapter 10 is for members of the body of Christ. To a saved people who already redeemed through the blood of Christ. We too need to be remembered, over and over that

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? 17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. 1 Corinthians chapter 10

Idolaters - fornication - tempt Christ - murmur ye

7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. 8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. 9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. 10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

Paul teaching members of the body of Christ that Idolaters - fornication - tempt Christ - murmur ye will affect us today as it was affecting the nation of Israel at that time. Members of the body of Christ are not excluded from those fundamental lust of the flash.

be ye idolaters

Neither be ye idolaters - a worshipper of false gods - Exod 32:6-8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed there unto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

If we just look around today to all the many different kind of the so called “Christians religion” we certainly find a modern way for IDOLATRY in many of them. I  do not have to mention all the names  but reading what Paul is saying to the church at Colosse will help us to understand that we must listen to Paul when he tells us to learn from what is written about Israel.

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, Colossians chapter 2

 Neither let us commit fornication

And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel. Numbers 25:1

1 CORINTHIANS 5:1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.

1 CORINTHIANS 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that comm 2 CORINTHIANS 12:21 [And] lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed. itteth fornication sinneth against his own body.

GALATIANS 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, EPHESIANS 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

tempt Christ

Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORDAnd the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?

And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not? ? Exodus 17

Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. Numbers 21

Is the LORD among us, or not?

we have spoken against the LORD,

Do all things without murmurings and disputings:  phil 2:14

disputings Gen 13:8

1 Timothy 6:5   Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

Now we understand that the Lord supper is about reminding the people again and again about few fundamentals truth.

Idolaters - fornication - tempt Christ - murmur ye

Israel after the flesh and the Gentiles sacrifice

Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the alter? What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. 1Cor.10:18-21

The subject is communion with idolaters. Paul takes Israel in the flesh as a sample for members of the body of Christ. The Priest that  eat of the sacrifices is partakers of the alter. There was a trespass offering on the altar. There was atonement made by the priest. All this mean that God remind them over and over not to serve sin. Not to walk in the way of the gentiles.

The meaning is simple – Someone who is saved through the blood of Christ should remind over and over not to serve sin.

[5] And the priest shall burn them upon the altar for an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a trespass offering.[6] Every male among the priests shall eat thereof: it shall be eaten in the holy place: it is most holy.[7] As the sin offering is, so is the trespass offering: there is one law for them: the priest that maketh atonement therewith shall have it. Lev.7:5-7

16 They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.17  They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not. 18 Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee. 19  And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters. 20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith. 21 They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.  Deuteronomy 32:17

Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful,

You see this sample is all about Christ.  Israel took his eyes from God the real God that took them out Egypt.

all our fathers were under the cloud

all baptized unto Moses

all eat the same spiritual meat

all drink the same spiritual drink

Christ is the Rock on which the church the body of Christ is built. Paul say:

According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 1 cor. 3:10

Some might say “’I know it” so why do I need the ordinances.

1 – Because this was Christ told Paul to tell us

2 – That when you come together you will remember it and not become : men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

Look around us and you will see how many people forgot the purpose why they are coming together in the church.

to eat the Lord's supper.

17 Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse. 18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.

When we read verse 17- 33 we will understand that Paul is writing to the believers when they are coming together. Coming in the Church. Not going to the building but coming in the Church. A Church meeting can be anywhere. It is not about the place where we meet but about the purpose of that meeting. Paul write in his first Letter to the Corinthians the rules when we coming together in the Church. (see chapter 10,11,12,13,14). While Paul teach that TOUNGES, PROPHACY and KNOWLIDG. were temporary, all other things remain the same. If we will compare what the present Christianity teach about what to do and what to teach when ye come together in the church, and what Christ gave Paul for the Church we will see a great different. Many think that when they are coming together in the church they are worshiping God but in fact not. They are worshipping of angels.

18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, 19 And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God. Colossians chapter 2

Divisions -  Speaking about division was never easy subject. In our day there are so many teaching that it will be hard for many people to say that this of this is the truth. When we read the context we understand that already in Paul days people rejected his teaching. They did not follow the ordinances that Christ gave to the Church. “Lord’s supper” “Woman head covering”

19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

Heresies –  We might call someone heretics if he reject that Christ is God or that salvation is not through Grace by faith alone.

2 PETER 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable Heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

The context here speak about Heresies when we not following what Christ told Paul to teach the churches.

1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

come together

20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper. 21 For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.22 What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.

Many straggle with the words  For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper . This was not the purpose to come together in the Church. Paul is not talking here about Jewish or eastern custom  to eat together. Paul make sure that they understand the main purpose when they are coming together. They DID NOT come  to eat the Lord's supper.

So again the question is  Why we are coming together in the church?. If Paul clearly say that the main reason should be to eat the Lord's supper. How come that during the many days from Paul time till our time this truth has been changed? Look why the Romans catholic church is coming together or the many other so called protestant churches. Look to the charismatic’s churches and you will understand that not many really care about what Paul wrote concerning when we come together.

Some have the following agenda when they are coming together in the Church (for them it is the building).

…. Sunday school

….. Worship Service

…… Bible Study

And where is what Paul is saying?  to eat the Lord's supper

For I have received of the Lord

If we want to understand the place of the Lords supper in the dispensation of grace. We should first note that what Paul is writing here is because he:  received of the Lord.

When Christ was on earth talking about the wine, bread and His body. He was talking  to His 12 disciples Matt. 26:26 Lukas 22:19. But now Christ is talking through Paul to members of the body of Christ under this dispensation of Grace.

So let see what Paul received from the Lord !

23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, …..

Paul writing to the Churches about the Lords supper because her received it directly from the Lord. He write about it not because of his Jewish background or because he went first to the Jews. He write us about it because Christ told him and Lords supper is part in the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery.

For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught [it], but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received [it] not [as] the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. GALATIANS 1:12  1 THESSALONIANS 2:13

…That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

Paul is talking to members of the body of Christ about that special night. It was the night when they had the Passover meal : EXODUS 12:43 And the LORD said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the Passover LUKE 22:15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer

You see the Lords supper is not the PASSOVER meal.  I do not know  how come that there are some so called grace teachers who do not see the different. We speak about that Christ gave Paul the Lords supper and not the Passover meal. Christ is our PASSOVER For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us  1 Kor 5:7. We as members of the body of Christ take part in the Lords supper and NOT in the Passover meal.

Remember Lords supper is NOT meal.

26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Matt. 26:26

….took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

5 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as often as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come

So what is the main message that Christ gave Paul for the Church?

ye do shew the Lord's death till he come

You see the Lords supper is not historical remembrance. When we take the cup and eat the bread is not because we need to remember that about 2000 years ago Christ died on the cross. It is not a past remembrance but present till he come.

When a member of the body of Christ remember every time when he comes together the death of Christ he remind about the redemption that we have trough his blood. He remind about the victory that we have now over sin because of Christ death on  the cross.  The death of Christ mean that we do not have to serve sin.

This is the testimony that we should give to the world every time when we come together in the church.

The things that Christ gave to Paul for the Church about the Lord’s supper are much more than just religion ritual. It is a testimony

We learn much about Christ death in Romans chapter 5 and 6

reconciled to God by the death of his Son Ro. 5:10

baptized into his death? Rom 6:3

buried with him by baptism into death Rom. 6:4

planted together in the likeness of his death Rom. 6:5

death hath no more dominion over him. Rom 6:9

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Cor  15:55-57

We already saw about what kind of sin Paul is talking about.

Idolaters - fornication - tempt Christ - murmur ye

So when we come together in the Church is first of all to remember what most important.

2_CORINTHIANS 5:15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily

27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

The Lords supper is remembrance with a personal responsibility. Did you read what Paul already say?

Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. 1Cor.10:18-21

For many it is just a moment of remembering but Paul speak here about UNWORTHILY, GUILT, EXAMINATION.

This can be one of the reason that Lord’s supper became problem for many churches. So instead of doing it often they doing it once a month or even less or not at all. However from what Paul is writing Lord’s supper is not just a ritual it is an important moment of remembrance when we coming together in the church.

Please remember it is not about guilt and examination of things that we did in the past as unbelievers. It is about how we walk in our daily life as a believers. If we live in the spirit we should also walk in the spirit:

11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 1 kor. 5

16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Gal. 5

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal 5

So again does Christ gave Paul the Lord’s supper for us because we might forget that he died on the Cross ? No. We must remember Christ body and tell to others so they will know and understand the power of Christ death in our daily life as a saved people.

shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

No one going to condemned us because of Adam sin ( Romans 5:12; 8:1) But we do have the obligation to understand why Christ gave His life and blood for us and to walk accordingly.

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Rom. 8

We know that during church history many religion link and still do between Baptism and Lords supper or between church membership and Lords supper. This mean that even if you are saved person you might not be Welkom to take part in the Lords supper in other church where you are not member or did not baptized.

This not what Paul is talking about. There is one place where he say DO NOT EAT WITH HIM.

1 Cor. 5

So yes while the gospel of our salvation is to call sinners to be reconciled with God. The Lord’s supper is a moment  where we remind our self to use the power of Grace in our life and not to fall into sin.

11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Titus 2:11

shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. -  People do not like to feel guilty. Some people feel guilty because they never understood grace. Many coming from religion background with so many men made rules that it is hard for them to understand the freedom that we have now in Christ. You sould study Romans chapter 6

It is  an important moment of remembering that through Christ death we do not have to serve sin. Christ forgave all our sin not that we are now free to serve sin but to walk in newness of life.

So Paul say Examine yourself and then eat. In simple words it will be think first and then eat.

29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

Unworthily =  Did you know that The Lord’s body on the cross have a certain value. The most important value of it is : 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Rom 6:23

Paul write here about believers, saved people who should know that they must appreciate the value of Christ body in their life. It is very clear truth. God gave us the gift of eternal life Through Christ. This the most value thing that we can have in life. This is the reason that believers should value Christ death on the cross in their lives.

15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 1 kor. 6

19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

So you see it is not a strange demand that believers should eat and drink not unworthily but worthily.

damnation to himself = Speaking about the word  damnation. We know that it is not about salvation. Salvation is by grace through faith. Paul already say about those people who walk unworthily: 5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. 1 kor 5

It is not God who bring now damnation on the believers but we self. eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

Discerning the body means self judgment. On the one hand we have to know what God accomplished for us by his Grace on the cross and on the other hand we have to  judge our self, to ask our self whether we are walking in the spirit or do we just fulfilling the lust of the flesh?

Let see in short some main points about Christ body:

ROMANS 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

You see Christ body and his resurrection for us in this dispensation of Grace is the key for bringing forth fruit unto God.  We are saved by grace in order to live a new live and not to serve the sin.

EPHESIANS 5:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

1:21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in [your] mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled 1:22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: Kol. 1:23

If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, [and] which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister; kol. 1:21

Why there are so many weak and sickly in the body of Christ ?

30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

Do you believe that a saved person, someone that the Holy spirit already baptized him into one body, can fall again into sin?  I do ! Many will say “but maybe he was not real believer”?

a saved person can be weak and sick if he will not use Gods spirit which in him to walk in the spirit. A saved person who fall into the sin of fornication will have the same worldly condemnation as unbeliever. If you get into drugs or alcohol your body will suffer in the same way as unbeliever. If you are mental heal you can end in the same hospital together with the unbelievers

Look around you so called bible believers get divorce as much as unbelievers. Churches are not free from al kind of sin.

Remember the Lord’s supper is written to a Church and for us of course that some of them were deeply in sin.

1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. 1 kor. 5:1

11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 1 kor. 6

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, ncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Galation 5

To whom is Paul writing those thing ? to members of the body of Christ ! Does he speaks here about the works of the flash of a saved person or unsaved ?  Paul is writing to us members of the body of Christ who need again and again to judge our self.

my brethren

33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another. 34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

We close this important subject about the Lord’s supper with the word for the brethren. If we will read 1 cor. Chapters 10-14 we will understand that when we are coming together in the Church the brethren should lead the church to eat in the right way.

Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and [that] there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?

Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them  to you. 1 Corinthians 1:10;6:5;10:1;11:2
